Yard Sale Madness

The yard sale on Saturday sucked all of the remaining energy out of my body. I stayed up until 3:00am on Thursday pricing clothes and until 4:00am on Friday baking treats. Since I had to be up by 6:00 to open the daycare, that did not leave me with a whole lot of sleep! We had perfect weather for the sale and lot of traffic and really fun friends to hang out with all day long.

The sale was at Tiffany's house (their neighborhood was having their annual sale), Kelly brought her two little girls and Deb came and acted as our Yard Sale CFO (she handled to money since the rest of us were so sleep deprived we could not add two and two together) and brought her daughter to play with Sophie. Sophie was with me as the boys were on a camp out with their Dad and she helped (and I use that term very, very loosely) sell some of the snacks and drinks. We sold a ton of stuff and I made almost $500 which I am thinking of spending on new toilets because I'm glamorous like that. Notice the kids eating the profits in the photo below.

At about 1:00 we all started wilting with fatigue and by the time we closed up at 3:00 I could barely stay on my feet. Yard Sales are a lot of work - the setting up and taking down takes forever! I drove home at about 4:30, left everything in the van, staggered upstairs for a shower and then fell into bed at 5:00. I woke up the next morning at 7:30. I cannot remember the last time I slept for that long, but clearly my body needed the rest!

There were some beautiful clothes not sold that I packed into bins to take over to Once Upon a Child - I've never tried selling to them before so we'll see how that goes.

  1. What baked good sold the fastest?

  2. The strawberry trifles sold the fastest but the chocolate trifles sold out. I should have made the coconut cupcakes as I had people who came back from last year and the lemon bars because they were a big seller last year. I raised my prices this year because of ingredient and time costs.

  3. The icing on the cupcakes looks DIVINE!

Glad you got a tonne of rest too :)
