Sugar Cookies!

Remember that sugar cookie dough I made on Thursday and then could not bake because a certain baby insisted on being held for the entire day? Well, yesterday we rolled and cut and baked and then spent some quality time with almond cream cheese icing and candy sprinkles. I may have had sugar cookies for both breakfast and lunch - maybe.

Also, I need to add a thankful list as well. After writing five things every day in November, I find that I am much more aware of just how blessed we are.

1. I am thankful for our kind neighbors who came twice this last week and shoveled my walks and driveway. They have a very handy snowblower that makes quick work of that annoying mound of snow the snowplow always dumps at the end of our driveway. Sophie brought them a plate full of cheerfully decorated sugar cookies yesterday.

2. I am grateful for good friends who willingly run errands for me when asked. On the way home from the MOA with an angry feverish baby and four other kids, I quickly realized I was not going to be able to stop at the grocery store as planned. Lori kindly picked up the ingredients for two kinds of bread pudding (I was hosting book club that night) for me and dropped them off at my house. Thank you, thank you Lori. All of the women who came to book club thank you as well because the bread pudding was the perfect dessert on a snowy, cold night.

3. I am grateful for help coming through the mail. Aunt Barb (my father in law's sister) sent two plug in rodent repellent thingys in the mail this week. They emit a sound that I cannot hear that somehow makes the mice want to leave. We are willing to try anything around here if it works. No sign of any mice for the last three weeks! Thank you Barb!

4. I am grateful for Christmas lights. The house is glowing with the lights from our many little trees. I have always loved this season and just how peaceful it feels even with the rush to package and mail the gifts. The children have trees in their rooms and fall asleep in the glow of those tiny lights. I love Christmas.

5. I am grateful for children in my home at Christmas time. Their excitement adds wonderful layers to an already rich season.

  1. I can't believe all you do and get done! Especially in the cold winters there.
