Magazine Mondays
One of my favorite food bloggers (think coconut cakes and crepe cakes) does a segment called Magazine Mondays where she makes a recipe from one of the many magazines piled up at her house (I am aware that it is not Tuesday, but cut me some slack). I tried this one last week and served it to the kids for breakfast. The recipe, Oatmeal Scones with Maple Cream, can be found in Cuisine at Home Holiday Baking which I picked up at Sam's Club.
My review: these are pretty good. You can really taste the oatmeal which I like and when served warm, they are a bit more moist than a traditional scone. They are very easy to make and I had all of the ingredients on hand. They did not hold up well packed into school lunches which is what I did with the last two. Sophie ate hers but Max declared he could not eat it unless it was warm.

Must post recipe, because I'm a cheap son of a gun, and don't want to buy the whole magazine.
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking that I hope you would put up a new recipe soon and then here I see this. I love trying what you put up because they are always so good. I tried the coconut cake a while ago, but never the crepe cake, although I do remember you blogging about that before. It looked quite time consuming, but delicious. If you try any more fun recipes in the near future, be sure to share them with us on here!
