Unexpected Treat

Over the last few months, I have reconnected with old friends from High School and my mission on Facebook. One of those people is Hansen - he has a first name (Ryan), but I don't use it and he still calls me Johnson.

Hansen and I met many, many (let's not count) years ago when we were both serving in Brasilia Brazil on a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. While I was visiting my family, he emailed me to let me know he was living and teaching in Idaho Falls. We managed to meet up at 5 Guys Burger and Fries (Yum!) with his wife and four children and two of my kids right before I headed out of town. I am so glad that we were able to meet again! He has a beautiful family and they seem very down to earth and very happy. He is now a High School teacher and full-time Mom in the summers. When I have a little time, I'll scan some photos of Hansen on the mission. He was an excellent missionary, dedicated, faithful, optimistic and strong and yet still so much fun to talk to and share that amazing experience of serving in Brazil. He has remained strong and faithful (and funny) and is now using those same attributes as a father, husband and teacher in the church.

His wife took this photo and it looks like Hansen and I have been very busy replenishing the earth - not so. The four kids on the left are his and the two on the right are mine. Calvin declined his invitation and was back watching Scooby-Doo at his Grandparent's house!

You can see what Hansen has been up to on his blog. Thank you Hansen for still looking out for me.
