We had a warm spell on Saturday. It was deliciously warm and the kids and I drove up to St. Paul to take advantage of the weather to catch a last glimpse of the winter carnival ice sculptures. I admit to not really having much interest in winter carnival. The idea of hanging out in the freezing cold for any reason is not really appealing to me. But, give me a 45 degree afternoon and I am all about outdoor activities.
We did not stay long as we had friends coming over for dinner and games, but the what was left of the melting sculptures was worth the drive. The kids were most impressed with the shark.
I loved seeing the ice sculptures every year. I took some of your pics because I never got any pics when I went and it's great to have to remember. It's so unique and creative. I have to comment on Sophie's outfit - love the coat, hat, and scarf!
Love the ice sculptures! What a fun day with the kids. You know you live in a cold climate when the 40's sounds like good weather! :) Also, I loved your saying for the year. Stay calm is my mantra on days when the kids have a lot going on.
That looks really cool. I like the shark too. We are way excited for weather in the 30's and 40's too! I was walking home from the hospital one day when it was like 35 and I felt like breaking out the shorts and throwing a party! It was fabulous!
I am a busy Mormon mother with three children from my first marriage and four bonus children in New York. I am a child of God. I am blessed with three wonderful extended families and many amazingly talented friends. I work full-time in a dental office and we live in a little 1940's rental just five blocks from the public library.
I adore Oregon.
I am happy. I am busy. I am loved.
I may be changed by what has happened to me, but I will not be diminished by it. Maya Angelou
"Love never dies a natural death. It dies because we don’t know how to replenish its source. It dies of blindness and errors and betrayals. It dies of illness and wounds; it dies of weariness, of witherings, of tarnishing." -Anais Nin
