Many Glacier Area

On Tuesday we spent most of the day in the Many Glacier area of Glacier National Park. We started by going to the Many Glacier Lodge which is located in one of the most scenic places in the entire park. The skies were still very smoky from the wildfires in the area and we got a bit of rain that day.

The lodge is a beautiful old place and very popular. We actually looked into staying here one night and were unable to get a room (they are also quite pricey!) There is a large deck overlooking the lake where we met a ranger who showed us a grizzly bear mom and her cub eating berries on the mountain across the street from the lodge!

After visiting the lodge we hiked to Swiftcurrent Valley to Red Rock Falls. Max was just a trooper on the trails. He carried his own backpack and led the group most of the time. Sophie had a wonderful time as well but Calvin, little Calvin was our energizer bunny! He ran along the trail all the way to the falls and almost all of the way back (4 miles round trip). He was just amazing to watch and we were very grateful not to have to carry him for long!
The falls were so pretty and as we hiked up above the falls, we found several other sets of waterfalls and the beautiful river feeding the falls below. We stopped for a quick lunch on the rocks before hiking out.

Sophie found this cool dragonfly on the edge of the lake (it was dead) and wanted to take it with us.

There were raspberries and huckleberries all along the paths. Max and Sophie loved looking for them and eating them as we hiked!

Having a little lunch!
