What's Blooming in the Back Yard

I thought the clematis deserved their own post. My father helped me put trellis all around the deck two years ago and last year I bought a bunch of clematis and planted them all around the base. Even with my complete lack of gardening skills, all but two came back this year and they are gorgeous! This year I am going to figure out what you are supposed to do with them in the fall - cut them back?

What's Blooming

The garden is going crazy with all of the hot weather we have been having. Several of my perennials have spread and taken over the entire bed they were supposed to accent. I need to do a lot of dividing and moving but I am still not completely comfortable knowing if I am pulling weeds or plants!

What's Blooming

Oh the gardens are just gorgeous! My peony which I got last year as a tiny twig from someones yard is blooming like crazy! Most of my clematis survived the winter and several are in bloom and climbing the back deck. The aliums, though smaller than last year are a beautiful globe of purple. Some of the perennials have gone crazy and need to be divided. It is supposed to rain for the next four days so I need to get that done!

Spring Colors

The garden has been rewarding us with beautiful color - even with the late frost. The rabbits had a great time eating many of the young tulips down to the ground, but we still have many that actually bloomed this year. Last year I planted 10 tulips in the back under the trees and the rabbits left me 4. This past fall I added another 50 and we have a bunch of blooms this year. My biggest frustration with spring is my lack of gardening skills. I cannot remember what I planted and where - which makes weeding rather difficult to manage.
